Debut at New National Theatre, Tokyo, Japan

November 29, 2020 Christopher makes his New National Theatre debut in Japan, conducting the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in a Heinz Zednik production of Johann Strauss II “Die Fledermaus”.  Performances in Tokyo from Nov. 29 – Dec. 6, 2020 and in Sapporo through Dec. 15, 2020.

Return to San Francisco Opera with Hansel und Gretel

In October of 2019, Christopher returns to the War Memorial Opera House after a successful debut with Turandot two seasons ago, and a rewarding concert with the Adler Fellows and the San Francisco Opera Orchestra last December. Performances of Humperdink’s Hansel und Gretel run from November 15- December 7th, 2019.

Return to Palau de les Arts with Peter Grimes

In February 2018, Christopher will return to Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia to conduct five performances of Peter Grimes. Stage director Willy Decker’s ground-breaking version of Peter Grimes (created for La Monnaie in 1994) will take place on 1, 4, 7, 10, 13 February 2018. MORE INFORMATION/BUY TICKETS

Upcoming debut at San Francisco Opera conducting Turandot

In the 2017–18 season, Christopher Franklin will make his conducting debut with the San Francisco Opera in Puccini’s Turandot. A co-production with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Turnadot will be directed by Garnett Bruce and include Swedish soprano Nine Stemme in the title role, Leah Crocetto as Liù, and Brian Jagde as Calaf. David Hockney’s creations for Turandot debuted in San Francisco in 1993, and will be restaged for the 2017 production. Performances of Turandot at the San Francisco Opera include 18, 25, 28 November, and 3, 6, 9 December 2017.

Debut with the London Philharmonic in Spain

As part of the International Music Festival of the Canary Islands, Christopher made his debut this month with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The programme included works by Mozart, Gounod, Verdi and Donizetti, and was performed in Las Palmas (January 8th) and Tenerife (January 11th).

Return to Teatro San Carlo in Napoli

Christopher returns to the fabulous acoustics of the Teatro San Carlo in Napoli for an historic staging of Donizetti’s Don Pasquale by Roberto de Simone to close the 2015 edition of the San Carlo Opera Festival. A few weeks later Christopher will travel to Bergamo (Donizetti’s birthplace) for the Donizetti Festival, conducting Don Pasquale in a new production by Andrea Cigni.
